Iggy’s Raspberry Milkshake

In 1922, Steven Poplawski invented the blender, and that was when milkshakes began to be made in the way we enjoy them today. In 1922 in Chicago, Walgreens employee Ivar “Pop” Coulson added vanilla ice cream to their usual malted milk drink, and so he invented the first malted milkshake.

Milkshakes can be made all year round with fresh berries or frozen ones. If your berries have been sweetened, you can leave out the honey.

For 2 kid friendly size servings you will need:

1/2 cup (125ml) Raspberries

1 tsp (5ml) liquid honey

3⁄4 cup (175ml) milk

2 large scoops of vanilla ice cream

Purée the berries and honey in a blender or a food processor.

Add the ice cream and milk and blend until the shake is thick and smooth. Pour into chilled glasses and serve.

Use your imagination and treat your tastebuds by trying other fruits!

I’d love to know if you have a favourite milkshake!
